Handcrafted Shaving Brush Amber Black and White
We are very happy to be partnering with David James to bring our customers handmade resin shaving brushes. These brush handles are hand poured and hand turned. Each of the brushes starts off as a clear resin. Different pigments, dyes and powders are mixed to create each individual colour. The resin is then poured and layered into a mould to create the ‘blank’. Once set, the ‘blank’ is removed and then placed into a lathe to be turned and shaped. Each handle is then sanded to a very high grit and polished for a high shine. The knots are then selected and glued into the handle. Often brush makers purchase the blank and then craft the handle on a lathe. David makes these brush handles including the ‘blank’.
This handcrafted shaving brush amber black and white in the resin handle. The shaving brush has a translucent amber with black and white marble top and tails. The knot is a 26mm 2band badger hair knot. The handle size is 81 x 40mm. Our handcrafted shaving brush amber black and white is beautifully handmade. The knot was chosen to compliment the colours in the handle.
The handcrafted shaving brush amber black and white has a 2band badger hair knot. Badger hair is very soft, flexible and gives a very comfortable feel on the skin. It is able to retain plenty of water needed yet remains firm and flexible when wet.
Using a shave brush on one’s skin produces a mild exfoliation. The brush is pre-soaked and then excess water is gently squeezed out. The brush is then used in a swirling manner to load the soap onto the tips of the brush until a paste forms. The soap is then worked into a lather by vigorously working the soap with the brush. This can be done either in a bowl or on the skin adding small amounts of water until the lather has peaks (approx. 2-3mins). Once the lather is created it is applied to the face or other area to be shaved.
The greatest benefit from using a shave brush is the tendency to soften and lift facial hair before a shave. If you apply a shaving soap by hand it can mat hair or raise it unevenly resulting in a less smooth shave. Using a shave brush means a razor does not need to be pressed to the skin in order to provide a close shave.
